An IED blast, allegedly carried out by Naxalites, rocked the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, resulting in the death of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Akash Rao Giripunje and injuries to multiple police personnel. The incident occurred near the Dondra village on Monday morning, during a routine patrol conducted amidst a bandh called by Naxal groups. ASP Giripunje succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a local hospital. The injured have been rushed to the hospital in Konta. Security forces have initiated a search operation in the area following the blast. The incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in their fight against Naxal insurgency in the region.
