An IED blast in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, allegedly planted by Naxalites, resulted in the martyrdom of ASP Akash Rao Giripunje and injuries to several police personnel. The incident occurred near the village of Dondra on Monday. ASP Giripunje, who was leading a patrol in the area, succumbed to his injuries. The attack took place amidst heightened security measures due to a bandh called by CPI(M). The injured have been taken to Konta Hospital for treatment. The incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in the region, particularly in the face of Naxalite violence.
