New District Council of Bharat Scouts and Guides District Association Koriya Formed, Rajiv Pathak Becomes District President
A new district council of the Bharat Scouts and Guides District Association Koriya was formed, and Rajiv Pathak was appointed as the District President. A consensus was reached on the action plan for the year 2026-27 in the district executive and scouter-guider meeting held at Shagun Garden, Baikunthpur, with a resolve to take scout-guide activities to every school.
As per the instructions of the respected State Chief Commissioner of Bharat Scouts and Guides Chhattisgarh, Indrajeet Singh Khalsa ji, the State Headquarters Raipur appointed State Headquarters Commissioner Shailendra Kumar Mishra as the supervisor through letter no./983/Ska.Ga/Ra.Mu/2026 Raipur. The process of nominating district council members was completed in the presence of the supervisor. The new district council of District Association Koriya was constituted on 05.08.2026 at Shagun Garden Khada, Baikunthpur, as per the order of District Education Officer Ex-officio District Commissioner Scout Jitendra Kumar Gupta. Active scouters-guiders, office bearers, teachers, and members from various schools in the district attended the meeting in large numbers. The meeting began with discussions on the organization's objectives and future plans. State Headquarters Commissioner Shailendra Kumar Mishra, while providing detailed information about scout-guide activities, stated that this organization is a powerful medium for developing discipline, service, leadership, and the spirit of nation-building.
Formation of New District Council
In the new district council formed unanimously, the following office bearers were selected—Honorable Rajiv Pathak ji was chosen as the District President, and Subhash Sahu ji, Pyarelal Sahu ji, Ranjit Prasad Mandal ji, Gayatri Singh ji, Anita Tiwari ji, and Poonam Yadav ji were elected as Vice Presidents. The newly elected office bearers resolved to take the organization's activities to every school in the district and connect more students with scouts and guides. District Organization Commissioner Scout Nageshwar Sahu administered the scout/guide pledge to all elected office bearers and scouters-guiders and provided detailed information about the upcoming proposed annual program. Subsequently, certificates and pins were awarded to Ms. Vijay Kujur and Dhanmat Padoti for successfully completing the ALT (Guide) and HW B (Guide) training, respectively.
Major Decisions Taken in the Meeting
Decision to deposit 100% of the registration and contribution amount for the session 2026-27 by August 30, 2026. Agreement on the successful organization of the State Award Check Camp. Emphasis on increasing the percentage of charter warrants for trained scout and guide members. Strategy formulated to make organizational activities more effective. Decision to ensure mandatory registration of all members on the OYMS portal. Discussion on simplifying digital record keeping and online processes. Plan to conduct a widespread tree plantation drive across the district. Decision to conduct environmental conservation campaigns in schools and rural areas.
Special Focus on Personality Development of Students
The meeting planned to organize regular training camps, rallies, awareness campaigns, career guidance, sickle cell and eye check-ups, and social service programs for the personality development, discipline, spirit of service, and leadership skills of students. Furthermore, a proposal was passed to emphasize involving more participants in basic courses. A decision was made to accelerate the new member registration drive. Discussions were held on organizing programs related to social concerns. More than a dozen proposals were passed to strengthen the scout-guide movement, and to ensure the smooth operation of scouting activities in the district, timely deposit of registration-contributions, and progressive training of scouts-guides, scouters-guiders, the appointment of Dr. Uttam Kumar Sahu in Bachara Pondi, Dhanmat Padoti in Baikunthpur, Apurva Dwivedi in Patna, and Ajay Kumar Thakur in Sonhat as tehsil-wise training counselors was unanimously approved.

The meeting was attended by District Chief Commissioner Scout Ram Pratap Singh, Treasurer Scout Ravi Kumar Pandey, District Secretary Surendra Kumar Rajwade, District Organization Commissioner Scout Nageshwar Sahu, District Organization Commissioner Guide Asha Ekka, District Training Commissioner Scout Sunil Kumar Bada, District Training Commissioner Guide Nisha Khan, Block Secretary Baikunthpur Shiv Pratap Singh, Block Secretary Sonhat Shyam Kumar, District Quartermaster Amarnath Singh, and District Media In-charge Ravi Prasad Baiga, along with scouters-guiders and in-charge teachers from various schools in the district.
Resolution of Service, Discipline, and Dedication
At the end of the meeting, all office bearers and members resolved to further the basic mantra of Bharat Scouts and Guides—"Service, Discipline, and Dedication." Decisions were also made to launch special campaigns in the upcoming session on topics such as social service, environmental conservation, sanitation, disaster management, and national unity. With the formation of the new district council, it is expected that scout and guide activities in the district will gain new momentum. The officials expressed confidence that District Koriya will establish its distinct identity at the state level in the coming times.
