NMEO scheme has given a new direction to farmer Basahu Ram's farming. With advanced peanut seeds and technical guidance, better crop on one acre and hope of increased income. Raipur, to increase farmers' income and promote the production of oilseed crops, the Agricultural Department is implementing the National Mission on Edible Oil (NMEO) scheme effectively. Under the scheme, farmers are provided with advanced seeds, information on modern agricultural techniques and periodic technical guidance, resulting in positive outcomes in production. Farmer Basahu Ram of Irgawan village in Surguja district contacted the Agricultural Department and availed the NMEO scheme. The department supplied him with 40 kilograms of free advanced variety peanut seed, which he sowed on his one‑acre farmland. Basahu Ram said that under the guidance of the village agricultural extension officer, the field was properly prepared, sowed scientifically and managed. Adoption of modern agricultural methods led to excellent seed germination and satisfactory crop growth. Considering the current situation, there is a full possibility of a good peanut harvest this year, which is expected to significantly increase his income. He said that the timely provision of quality seeds and technical advice by the department has improved the quality of cultivation. The benefit of scientific farming is directly visible in production, boosting farmers' confidence. Officials of the Agricultural Department stated that through the NMEO scheme, farmers are provided with quality seeds, modern agricultural technology and regular technical consultancy, leading to increased oilseed production and substantial improvement in farmers' earnings. The department appealed to the district’s farmers to make maximum use of government agricultural schemes, adopt scientific and modern methods, and achieve higher yields at lower cost to strengthen their economic condition.
