Raigarh District Collectorate Employee Nabbed with Bribe Check in ACB Sting

A major sting operation by the Anti‑Corruption Bureau resulted in the arrest of a government officer stationed at the Raigarh district collectorate. The official, serving in the Relief and Disaster Management division, was found accepting a ₹50,000 cheque that was offered as a facilitation fee for releasing the compensation owed to a family victimised by a snakebite.

The ACB acted on a written grievance submitted by the affected family. After confirming the authenticity of the allegation, a covert team set up surveillance inside the collectorate. The officer was caught red‑handed when he took the cheque and was subsequently seized.

Authorities have begun a detailed inquiry into the compensation distribution mechanism, and the accused is now under interrogation. Prosecutors plan to file charges that could lead to imprisonment and forfeiture of assets.
