The monsoon season is currently active across the country. Heavy rainfall has caused severe devastation in the mountainous regions. Uttarakhand has experienced widespread destruction due to cloudbursts. The Meteorological Department has also issued alerts in Himachal Pradesh. Several areas in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh are grappling with floods. States like Bihar, Jharkhand, Bengal, and Odisha have also witnessed torrential downpours.
However, the capital city is devoid of rain, with residents suffering from humidity and heat. Despite the Meteorological Department’s forecast of rain, there has been no rainfall in Delhi for the past three days. The monsoon trough is considered the primary cause of the rainfall, but it has shifted north of Delhi in the current situation.
During the next 24 hours, rainfall is limited to the mountains, reducing the chances of good rainfall in Delhi. The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain or drizzle for Delhi today. According to the department, rain may continue in the capital until the 12th. Light to moderate rain is expected in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Kerala, and Karnataka during the next 24 hours.
Clouds will be present from Bengal to Andaman and Nicobar.
Heavy rainfall is expected in some places in these states. Light to moderate rain, along with heavy rainfall in some places, is also expected in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Light to moderate rain may occur in some parts of Maharashtra, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Konkan, Goa, Rayalaseema, Lakshadweep, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Light rain is expected in central India and Rajasthan during the next 6-7 days. Heavy to very heavy rainfall may continue in the Northeast and surrounding eastern India over the next 7 days. Extremely heavy rainfall is possible in some places in Arunachal Pradesh tomorrow, August 8th.
