Regional Rain Alerts: Bihar to Odisha, Himachal and Uttarakhand Under Watch

A series of rain alerts have been activated across a wide swath of India. In Bihar, multiple districts face heavy rain and gusty wind warnings for today, and the alert continues through the end of August. Jharkhand mirrors this with a similar alert lasting until August 31.

Further west, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh have declared heavy rain and storm alerts, while Punjab’s districts are also under a heavy rain warning. Along the western coast, the Konkan region and Goa are expected to receive widespread rainfall up to September 3.

In the eastern belt, West Bengal may experience heavy showers until September 1, and Odisha has issued alerts ranging from moderate to very heavy rain for several locations. The northeastern states—Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura—are all under varying degrees of rain risk.

The Himalayan states are not exempt. Uttarakhand districts such as Nainital, Pithoragarh, Chamoli, Almora, Rudraprayag, Udham Singh Nagar, Bageshwar, and Champawat have heavy rain and wind alerts. Himachal Pradesh’s districts including Kangra, Shimla, Sirmaur, Hamirpur, Solan, Kullu, Bilaspur, and Chamba face strong rain‑storm warnings. Jammu & Kashmir also reports heavy rain and gusts in several areas.
