Raipur. Chhattisgarh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) has given an important verdict towards the safety of consumer rights in the real estate sector. RERA has directed the promoter in a case related to the Ashirwad Apartment Project (Kohka, District Durg) to return the allotty with interest of Rs 28.71 lakh immediately.
The matter came to light when it was found that the possession of the flat was not given even two years after the contract between the allotti and the promoter. The construction work remained incomplete for a long time, causing the allotte to face mental, social and economic troubles.
According to the order of RERA, the Promoter will return the principal of Rs 23 lakh 71 thousand and a total amount of Rs 28 lakh 71 thousand with interest of Rs 5 lakh on it. The authority clarified that the promoter’s negligence has broken the confidence of the consumer and also violated the RERA law.
The Rera Registrar said in this context that the purpose of RERA is that every homebire should get its rights on time. This order is a strong message in the same direction that no promoter can cheat or delay the consumer.
This decision of RERA has not only brought relief to the aggrieved consumer, but it will also make a positive message for other buyers. RERA has appealed to consumers to be vigilant and file a complaint on this platform to protect their rights on time.
