The Chhattisgarh government has modified the subsidy limits under its half-electricity bill scheme. Instead of a discount on 400 units each month, the revised scheme will offer a 50% discount on monthly consumption up to 100 units. The government stated that approximately 31 lakh families (around 70%) out of the state’s 45 lakh domestic consumers do not consume more than 100 units per month. The Chhattisgarh government emphasizes that despite this revision in the half-electricity bill subsidy limit, these 31 lakh needy families, including both general and vulnerable categories, will continue to benefit from the scheme as before. Roughly 70% of domestic consumers in the state will still receive the same benefits as they did previously under the half-electricity scheme.
