Saarang Display Team Set for Chhattisgarh Rajyotsava Air Show on Nov 2

Raipur, October 28, 2026. Spectators in Chhattisgarh will get a rare opportunity to watch the Indian Air Force's skill and flying precision during this year's Chhattisgarh Rajyotsava.

The celebrated Saarang Helicopter Display Team of the Indian Air Force will perform at the Sendh Lake area of Nava Raipur on November 2. The show starts at 11 am. Five indigenous Dhruv helicopters will fly together, carrying out remarkable aerial feats. The team's tight coordination, bold flying and eye-catching formations in the sky have been included among the key highlights of the Rajyotsava celebrations.

On Wednesday, the Saarang team members made a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at his official residence office in Raipur. The Chief Minister extended a warm welcome and said the team's presence at Rajyotsava is a proud moment for the state. He added that the Air Force's performance would encourage youth and students to develop courage, discipline, technical excellence and a commitment to serving the nation.

The air show forms part of the state foundation day celebrations at Sendh Lake in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. Five Saarang helicopters will participate. Their collective flights, varied formations and aerial stunts, which depend on close mutual coordination, are expected to be the centre of attraction for the audience.

The Saarang team is distinguished by its exact coordination while flying helicopters. Changing course together, holding formations and keeping balance at close range demonstrate the training and proficiency of the pilots.

The Saarang Helicopter Display Team is headed by Group Captain Abhijit Kumar. Squadron Leader Ankita and Squadron Leader Akshaya, two women pilots, are also members of the team. In a display with five helicopters, precise teamwork among the pilots and steady practice are central to success.

During the meeting with the Chief Minister, Group Captain Abhijit Kumar expressed happiness at being part of Chhattisgarh Rajyotsava. He said the Saarang team has repeatedly presented the Indian Air Force's skill, discipline and professional competence through air displays in the country and overseas.

The purpose of the team is not merely to excite audiences but also to motivate young people toward self-assurance, discipline and national service. Such performances can also build interest in aviation and defence careers among those considering a future in the Air Force.

Details about entry for spectators, parking and traffic arrangements have yet to be released.
