A video has surfaced showing the service manager of State Bank of India (SBI) in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, hosting a liquor party in the bank’s new office building. The manager, identified as Ashish Walkar, was captured on video with friends, drinking alcohol on Sunday night. The video, which has gone viral on social media, was reportedly filmed by a local youth. The incident took place at the SBI Margadarshi Bank office in Bijapur.
Walkar was scheduled to be transferred to Raipur. The party was organized as a farewell for the service manager. The building where the party was held was recently acquired by the bank, but the bank has not yet moved in, with the relocation expected to begin soon. The new SBI building is located near the Bijapur bus stand.
The video shows the SBI service manager holding a glass of alcohol, with others also drinking. Approximately 10-12 people were present at the office, all of whom were visitors. Loud music was playing, which reportedly disturbed nearby residents. A youth began recording after the noise escalated.
When the youth inquired about the disturbance, the manager responded that a party was underway. The manager explained that it was a farewell party due to his transfer and that it was his last day, so they were celebrating. He mentioned that he wouldn’t be visiting Bijapur again and that his friends would leave shortly.
Following the video’s circulation, action is reportedly being considered. However, no formal complaint has yet been filed with the police station. The bank management has not yet issued a statement on the matter.
