Self‑Reliant Women Generate Jobs With Bilaspur Feed Plant

Raipur, 26 August 2026 – The Akaltari community in Bilaspur district is witnessing a shift in gender roles as women spearhead a livestock and poultry feed manufacturing unit. Funded through the Bihan initiative of the National Rural Livelihood Mission, the Jay Bharat Mahila Self‑Help Group now controls a modern feed plant equipped with grinders, mixers, pelletisers and crumbling machines.

Every operational task—from raw material handling to final marketing—is performed by the women, guaranteeing full control over quality and cost. The presence of the plant within the village eliminates the necessity for farmers to source feed from far‑off towns, leading to significant savings in transport and time.

Employment opportunities have multiplied, providing stable wages for both the participating women and other community members. The venture not only augments family incomes but also injects vitality into the village’s micro‑economy.
