Seven urban bodies in Chhattisgarh have been selected to receive national awards in the Swachh Survekshan 2024. The awards ceremony will be held on July 17th in New Delhi, with President Droupadi Murmu presiding over the event. These urban bodies have been recognized for their outstanding performance in cleanliness. The President will present the President’s Award to three urban bodies: Bilaspur Municipal Corporation (for cities with a population of 3 lakh to 10 lakh), Kumhari Municipality (for cities with a population of 20,000 to 50,000), and Bilha Nagar Panchayat (for cities with a population under 20,000). The Raipur Municipal Corporation will receive the Ministerial Award for its commendable work in cleanliness. Furthermore, three more urban bodies from Chhattisgarh – Ambikapur Municipal Corporation, Patan Nagar Panchayat, and Bishrampur Nagar Panchayat – have been selected for the Super Swachhta League (SSL), a special category for cities that have consistently performed well in the past. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao have congratulated the selected urban bodies, acknowledging the efforts of the Urban Administration and Development Department and local bodies in making the state’s cities clean and beautiful.
