A significant anti-Naxal operation in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district has resulted in the deaths of six Maoist cadres. The intense gunfight erupted in the Indravati National Park area following intelligence reports of senior Naxal leadership presence. A joint security force, comprising the District Reserve Guard (DRG) from Bijapur and Dantewada, alongside the Special Task Force (STF), engaged the militants. The exchange of fire continued for several hours, culminating in the recovery of six bodies and a cache of automatic weapons, including an INSAS rifle, sten guns, a .303 rifle, and explosives. Additional units from DRG, STF, Bastar Fighters, CRPF, and CAF were deployed to secure the area and apprehend any fleeing suspects. The operation remains ongoing, with authorities committed to eradicating the Maoist threat. This success is viewed as a crucial step towards achieving the national goal of ending Naxalism by March 2026.
