An intense encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district has resulted in the deaths of six Naxalites. The gunfight erupted around 10 AM in the Indravati National Park area during an anti-Naxalite operation. Security forces, including the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF) from Bijapur and Dantewada, were acting on intelligence regarding the presence of high-ranking Maoist cadres.
Intermittent firing lasted for several hours. Following the exchange, a search of the encounter site revealed the bodies of six Maoists. They were found in possession of automatic weapons, including an INSAS rifle, sten guns, a .303 rifle, and explosives. Additional security teams, comprising the DRG, STF, Bastar Fighters, CRPF, and Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF), were deployed to secure the area and pursue any fleeing cadres.
