Social Media Post Sparks Legal Action Over Insulting Language Toward Officials

A grievance filed at Rai pur’s Civil Line police station on August 25 2026 has triggered legal proceedings against the state’s top leadership after an Instagram video allegedly used crude and disrespectful language while mentioning Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sahay and his two deputies, Arun Sauv and Vijay Sharma.

The video originated from the account named “sagar nirmalkar,” and the complainant pointed to further profane messages from the handle @quail.3131469. The petitioner, Veerendra Dubey, requested that investigators scrutinise the digital footprint under the provisions of the Information Technology Act and the Indian Penal Code.

Dubey stressed that while free speech allows scrutiny of government actions, it does not sanction obscene slurs, personal vilification, or defamatory content. He cited an increasing trend of such online attacks aimed at undermining the state’s political leadership.

Law enforcement officials have now registered the FIR and are conducting a technical examination of the video, comment threads, and related Instagram accounts to identify the source and any network behind the alleged offenses.
