Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Deo Sai, attended the Thakur Joharni program organized by the tribal community in Narharpur, Kanker district, on Sunday. Former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Arjun Munda, was also present. Sai participated in the program, offering prayers to the deities revered by the tribal community, seeking prosperity and well-being for the state’s residents. The Chief Minister stated that the new industrial policy prioritizes tribal development, with a special focus on Bastar and Surguja to provide employment and self-employment opportunities, thereby maximizing benefits for the local populace. He extended his greetings for Thakur Joharni and Navakhai. Sai emphasized the importance of preserving the unique traditions of the tribal society and maintaining their unity. He highlighted the implementation of the new education policy across the state to encourage the youth to pursue education. He mentioned the presence of higher educational institutions like IIT, IIM, and Triple IIT, to provide quality and employment-oriented education. Efforts are also underway through institutions like Prayas and Eklavya. Additionally, a Tribal Youth Hostel is operating in Delhi, and Nalanda campuses are being established throughout the state. Sai noted the successes of security forces in their ongoing campaign against Maoism and reiterated his commitment to eradicate Maoism by March 31, 2026. The state government is working, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, to connect people with employment-generating activities such as animal husbandry and poultry farming, with the support of the National Dairy Development Board. Initiatives include increasing the remuneration of tendu leaf collectors, distribution of Charanpaduka, the Ramlala Darshan scheme, and the establishment of Atal Digital Seva Kendras to bring transparency and ease to Gram Panchayats. The PM Janman Yojana and Dharti Aba Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan are being used to ensure the sustainable and holistic development of tribals. Arjun Munda, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, addressed the gathering, highlighting the distinct identity of tribals who live with water, forests, land, traditions, folk dances, songs, and musical instruments. He stressed the importance of remaining aware of health, education, and rights while strengthening their roots. The program was also addressed by MP Bhojraj Nag, MLA Asharam Netam, and Keskal MLA Neelkanth Tekam, along with other community leaders. Chief Minister Sai announced several projects for the Narharpur region, including the construction of the Bagod Anicut at a cost of 30 crore rupees, the establishment of a 132 KV electricity substation at a cost of 30 crore rupees, 20 lakh rupees for the Mawa Modol Library in Narharpur, 20 lakh rupees for the construction of the Gondwana Community Hall in village Dhodharapahar, the installation of a mobile tower in Narharpur, 80 lakh rupees for the construction of a well-equipped rest house in Narharpur, and a total of 1 crore 20 lakh rupees for the construction of 12 tin sheds in all 12 Muda areas of the Gondwana Samaj in Narharpur development block. Support was also announced for the Jangorayatar English Medium School run by the Gondwana Samaj in village Dhanesara. The event was attended by various dignitaries and community members.
