State Authorities Tighten Surveillance on Illegal Liquor During Chhattisgarh Dry Day

RAIPUR – With the upcoming dry day on September 4, Chhattisgarh’s administration has issued a stern directive to all enforcement wings to curb the illicit liquor trade. While licensed outlets will be shut, the focus now shifts to stopping black‑market operations.

The excise department, in coordination with police, will carry out surprise raids on suspected storage sites and transit routes. Any violation of the dry‑day order will trigger immediate legal action, including confiscation of goods and arrest of offenders.

Officials have been instructed to maintain a continuous watch for any clandestine sales, especially in remote villages where illegal brewing is more prevalent. The government aims to ensure that the religious observance of Janmashtami proceeds without the distraction of unlawful drinking.

Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sahay reiterated his call for a calm and respectful celebration, urging citizens to cooperate with authorities and respect the temporary prohibition.
