State Level Workshop for District Panchayat Members Organized for Effective Implementation of VB-Jirramji Act
Three-day training program at SIRD Nimora, Panchayat representatives are being trained.
Raipur, A three-day state-level workshop for all elected District Panchayat members of the state is being organized from August 3 to 5 at Thakur Pyarelal State Panchayat and Rural Development Institute (SIRd), Nimora, Raipur, with the objective of effective implementation of the Developed India-Guarantee Mission for Employment and Livelihood (Rural) (VB Jirramji) Act, 2025. The workshop aims to develop the capacity of public representatives by acquainting them with the various provisions of the Act, their responsibilities, and the processes for effective implementation.
The chairpersons of various standing committees of District Panchayats were also present at the workshop. On this occasion, Commissioner of Developed India-Jirramji Scheme, Mr. Taran Prakash Sinha, said that the role of Panchayat representatives is extremely important in realizing the goal of Developed India. He said that the VB Jirramji Act, 2025 has been implemented with the objective of economically and socially empowering rural India in line with Vision@2047, which includes many important provisions related to employment, livelihood, and overall development for rural families.
Guarantee of 125 days of employment and Rs 300 daily wage Mr. Sinha informed that under the Act, a guarantee of 125 days of employment per year has been provided to every eligible rural family. Also, the wage rate has been increased to Rs 300 per day. He said that the selection and approval of all development works to be undertaken under the scheme will be done through the Gram Sabha, thereby further strengthening public participation, transparency, and accountability in the development process.
Practical training being imparted to District Panchayat members On the second day of the workshop, District Panchayat members from Sarguja, Raipur, and Bastar divisions enthusiastically participated in the training. During this, Joint Commissioner Mr. Ramdhan Shriwas, SIRD faculty member Mr. Anand Raghuwanshi, and other master trainers provided detailed information to the participants about the various provisions of the Act and their practical implementation.
Training focused on all important aspects of rural development In the training sessions, detailed training is being provided on important topics such as the concept and objectives of the VB-Jirramji Act, 2025, the role and responsibilities of Panchayati Raj Institutions, preparation of Developed Gram Panchayat Plan, works to be approved under the scheme, registration of eligible families, rural employment card, monitoring and supervision system, grievance redressal system, convergence with other rural development schemes, financial management, transparency, accountability, social audit, natural resource management, and livelihood promotion.
Participatory and sustainable rural development will gain momentum The objective of the workshop is to empower District Panchayat representatives with the necessary knowledge, skills, and practical understanding so that they can ensure the effective implementation of the Act in their respective areas. This will further strengthen the role of Gram Sabhas and give new momentum to participatory, transparent, accountable, and sustainable rural development.
