Strong blow to malnutrition, school children to get free nutritious breakfast
More than 13 thousand school children in Narayanpur will now get free nutritious breakfast daily
Ladoo scheme also launched in Anganwadis
Raipur, September 11, 2026/ A new and revolutionary beginning has been made in Narayanpur, the gateway to Abujhmad in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh, towards the better health, nutrition, and regular education of children. Under the academic session 2026-27, a free nutritious breakfast scheme has been launched for more than 13 thousand students studying in primary and upper primary schools in the district. Along with this, a nutritious ladoo distribution program has also been started in Anganwadi centers of the district with the aim of completely freeing children from malnutrition. District In-charge Minister Mr. Tank Ram Verma and Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap officially launched this far-reaching initiative and encouraged the little ones by personally serving them delicious and nutritious breakfast.
This ambitious initiative is being implemented in a total of 476 schools in Narayanpur and Orchha (Abujhmad) development blocks, from which 13,015 school children will directly benefit. Under the scheme, every student will be given 150 grams of fresh and healthy breakfast daily. Keeping in mind the taste and nutrition of children, a balanced menu has been decided according to the day, which includes protein-rich food items like Poha-Phalidana, Suji ka Upma, Dalia, Chana, Khada Moong, and Peanuts. To strengthen the food preparation system, 676 cooks in the district are also being given an additional honorarium of Rs 800 per month, which has boosted their morale.
This program will not only pull the young ones out of the cycle of malnutrition but will also prove to be a milestone in increasing the attendance of children in schools in remote and forest areas, ensuring their retention, and connecting them with the mainstream of education. On this auspicious occasion, Municipal Corporation President, Collector, Superintendent of Police, and local public representatives, along with a large number of teachers, villagers, and school children, were present.
