Supplementary prosecution complaint filed against 14 accused in Bharat Mala case
Rai pur, August 2 2026 – Following the attachment of assets, the Enforcement Directorate lodged a Supplementary Prosecution Complaint (SPC) in a special court against 14 individuals, including senior figure Jay Prakash Gandhi. The SPC outlines further charges of money‑laundering, criminal conspiracy and violation of land‑acquisition norms.
The complaint alleges that the accused exploited the Bharat Mala project by artificially partitioning acquired land, transferring titles to family members and inflating the amount of compensation claimed from the state. The illegal proceeds were then allegedly channeled into securities markets, mutual funds and a spectrum of property assets.
The ED emphasised that the investigation is ongoing and that the SPC represents only a part of the broader legal strategy. Authorities have indicated that more suspects could be named, and additional legal steps—such as further arrests and asset seizures—may be taken as the case advances.
