Temperature to Drop in Delhi as Rain Hits 22 Indian States

India is set for a major weather turnaround as the IMD forecasts rainfall across 22 states, effectively breaking the current heatwave cycle. Delhi, which has been reeling under record temperatures, will see a gradual decline in heat starting May 28. The weather department suggests that a series of western disturbances and moisture-laden winds will trigger showers across the capital through May 31. This shift is expected to cool the city down significantly, with temperatures dropping from a scorching 45 degrees to a much more manageable 35 degrees Celsius. The impact of this weather system is not limited to the capital. Assam and Meghalaya are expected to receive consistent rainfall between May 27 and June 1. Down south, Kerala and Lakshadweep will see showers starting May 28, while Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana are likely to experience thunderstorms by May 30. These storms may be accompanied by high-speed winds, necessitating caution for residents in these coastal and interior regions. The sudden onset of these pre-monsoon activities is expected to bring relief to millions across the subcontinent.
