Shardiya Navratri begins today, marking the commencement of a period dedicated to the worship of the nine forms of Goddess Durga. The first day is devoted to Maa Shailputri, the daughter of the Himalayas and the first manifestation of the goddess. It is believed that performing the Ghatasthapana ritual on the first day, followed by the worship of Maa Shailputri, brings auspicious results. The auspicious time for Ghatasthapana today is from 06:08 AM to 08:06 AM. The Abhijit Muhurat will be from 11:49 AM to 12:38 PM. Devotees are encouraged to wear white clothes, as white is considered to be Maa Shailputri’s favorite color. Offerings include roli, akshat, sindoor, incense, lamps, and flowers. Red hibiscus or any white flowers are also suitable offerings. Recite the mantras ‘Sarva Mangalya Mangalye…’ and ‘Ya Devi Sarva Bhuteshu…’ during the puja. Additionally, the article includes the Aarti of Maa Shailputri, sung to invoke her blessings.
