Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has announced a significant update to the toll tax system, promising major changes within the next three days. Gadkari, in a candid statement, expressed his displeasure with the current system, jokingly requesting not to be called the ‘Toll Minister’ anymore. He revealed that the government is actively working on replacing the existing toll collection methods with advanced technologies. These include a satellite-based tracking system and digital payment systems across national highways. The new system aims to eliminate long queues at toll plazas, with automated payment based on the distance traveled. If the plans are successful, the entire toll tax collection process across the country is expected to be revamped within the next few months.
