With the aim that every drop of water is conserved in the state and every family gets the facility of clean drinking water, the state government is giving top priority to the works of water conservation and Jal Jeevan Mission. Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai said this today while addressing a review meeting of the Water Resources Department and Public Health Engineering Department at the Chief Minister's residence office in the capital Raipur.

Chief Minister Mr. Sai reviewed the district-wise progress of the 'Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan' (Water Conservation Public Participation Campaign) in detail. The Chief Minister said that the works of water conservation should be regularly monitored and efforts should be made towards long-term water security keeping in mind future needs along with achieving the set targets.

Water Conservation Campaign will be strengthened through Public Participation

Chief Minister Mr. Sai said that water conservation should not be limited to a government program, but should be made a broad campaign of public participation. In 2025-26, many districts of the state have done commendable work under the 'Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan'. Now all districts will have to strive for better results by exceeding their set targets.

The Chief Minister took information about the district-wise progress of the campaign through a presentation. He appreciated the work done in the direction of water conservation in districts including Koriya, Dhamtari, and Rajnandgaon. The Chief Minister said that the experiences and working methods of the better performing districts should also benefit other districts, so that the efforts of water conservation can gain equal momentum across the entire state.

Mr. Rajesh Kumar Toppo, Secretary, Water Resources Department, informed the meeting that Chhattisgarh is leading the country in the 'Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan'. He said that all districts have been instructed to work with full commitment to achieve the targets set this year and perform even better.

Chhattisgarh's Water Conservation Model Recognized on National Platform

The Chief Minister said that water conservation efforts will yield long-term results only when the active participation of society is ensured along with the government. Through this power of public participation, Chhattisgarh has to be permanently established as one of the leading states in the country in the field of water conservation.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to move forward with the process of preparing notified maps of all districts under the 'Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan'. The campaign will be regularly reviewed at the Chief Secretary level. He said that the works related to water conservation should be continuously monitored in every district and any shortcomings should be immediately removed wherever they are found. There should be no compromise on quality in construction works and all works should be completed within the stipulated time frame.

Our Goal is to Provide Clean Water Through Taps to Every Household

Chief Minister Mr. Sai also reviewed the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission in detail during the meeting. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, the objective of the Jal Jeevan Mission is to provide clean drinking water through taps to every family. Ensuring the availability of adequate and clean drinking water to every household in the state is a major priority of the state government.

The Chief Minister said that the remaining works of the Jal Jeevan Mission should now be taken forward in a mission mode. All collectors should regularly review this in their respective districts and immediately resolve any administrative, technical, or implementation related obstacles and complete the works within the stipulated time frame. He said that merely building infrastructure is not the goal, but it is also necessary to ensure that the actual benefits of the schemes reach the families and people get regular supply of clean drinking water. For this, work should be done with better coordination between the district administration and the concerned departments.

No Unnecessary Delay in Payment of Completed Works

Chief Minister Mr. Sai also reviewed the status of payment of completed works under the Jal Jeevan Mission. He directed that payments for works that have been completed as per the prescribed standards and quality should be ensured on time. He said that by regularly reviewing the mission at the district level, the shortcomings and problems that have come to light in the presentation should be resolved on priority. The remaining works should be accelerated with better coordination among all stakeholders of the scheme.

Water Security Should Be the Priority of Every District

Chief Minister Mr. Sai directed all collectors to give top priority to water conservation and the goal of providing drinking water through taps to every household in their districts. An effective action plan should be prepared keeping in mind the local conditions and water availability, and coordination should be ensured between the Water Resources, Public Health Engineering, and other related departments.

The Chief Minister said that the 'Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan' and the Jal Jeevan Mission are directly related to the lives of common citizens. Effective implementation of these efforts will not only provide better drinking water facilities to people in the present but will also lay a strong foundation for water security for future generations. He said that Chhattisgarh has an opportunity to present an example to the country in the field of water conservation. For this, along with the government and administration, public participation has to be further strengthened and every district has to work to its full potential. Our goal is to build such a Chhattisgarh where water is better conserved, water sources are safe and prosperous, and every family has easy access to adequate and clean drinking water.
