The first cabinet's resolution is being rapidly fulfilled Government has provided 26,908 crore for house construction A pucca house for the poor is the foundation of their dignity, security, and better future – Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai Raipur. June 12, 2026. The government of Chhattisgarh, led by Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai, committed to the all-round development of the state under the motto 'We built it, we will nurture it', is rapidly fulfilling the resolution of its first cabinet. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), 10.60 lakh houses have been completed in the state in the last two and a half years. In the last financial year 2025-26, Chhattisgarh completed more than 6 lakh houses, the highest in the country. Chhattisgarh also holds the top position in the country in terms of the number of houses completed daily. Currently, more than 1600 houses are being completed daily in the state. Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai, on the very next day after taking charge of the state, had resolved to construct 18 lakh houses for the poor in the first cabinet meeting held at the secretariat. The state government is actively working towards fulfilling this resolution. Among the 18,12,742 houses that the government had resolved to build at that time, there were 2,46,215 incomplete houses, 6,33,438 houses from the permanent waiting list of 2011, all 8,19,999 houses from the Awas Plus list, and all 47,090 houses under the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana (Gramin Awas Nyay Yojana). Along with these, the government is also building 33,601 houses under the PM Janman Yojana in forest areas and 15,000 additional houses under a special project in Naxal-affected regions. The Department of Panchayat and Rural Development has surveyed the poor whose houses are still kachcha under "Awas Plus 2.0-2024". The process of house construction for them is also moving forward rapidly. From day one, the government of Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai started working with full seriousness, proactivity, and commitment to fulfill the resolution of constructing 18 lakh houses. To quickly complete these houses and realize the dreams of the poor for pucca homes, the government has provided Rs 26,908 crore. The Department of Panchayat and Rural Development has expeditiously approved and completed new houses for the needy, along with the incomplete houses inherited from the previous government, on a war footing. The speed at which the government is working to fulfill its resolution is evidenced by the fact that last year (in 2025) from April to October, approximately 2000 houses were completed daily in the state. Even now, 1600 houses are being completed daily. Chhattisgarh is completing the highest number of Pradhan Mantri Awas houses daily in the country. To fulfill this significant resolution and give it adequate momentum, the government of Chhattisgarh has also involved women self-help groups. The sisters from self-help groups are contributing to this massive campaign by becoming 'Dealer Didi' and 'Rani Mistri'. Thousands of women have become 'Lakhpati Didis' through this. The Atal Digital Service Centers established in villages have facilitated small transactions within the villages, greatly aiding in the realization of the housing construction resolution on the ground. Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development, Mr. Vijay Sharma, has written a letter to Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai congratulating him on this achievement in housing construction in the state. Expressing his gratitude to the Chief Minister, he stated that with the full cooperation and generous budget provided by the state government, the Department of Panchayat and Rural Development is rapidly fulfilling the government's resolution. “We are fully committed to realizing the resolution made by our government in the first cabinet to provide pucca houses to the poor families of the state. The completion of over 10.60 lakh rural houses during the two and a half years of our government's tenure is a result of this resolution and public trust. Our aim is to fulfill the dream of a home for every poor and needy family, and for this, the government is continuously working with sensitivity and speed. This is not just the construction of houses, but the foundation of dignity, security, and a better future for the poor. Together, we are building a prosperous, self-reliant, and happy Chhattisgarh.” - Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai
