The monsoon has fully established itself across Chhattisgarh, with rain expected in many districts today. The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rainfall alert for the Sarguja division. Furthermore, there’s a forecast of heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and lightning in Raipur, Bilaspur, Rajnandgaon, Balod, Sukma, Bijapur, Dantewada, Kanker, and other districts.
In Raipur, the minimum temperature recorded was 25.8 degrees Celsius, and the maximum was 31.1 degrees Celsius. The weather department anticipates similar weather conditions for the next three days. Authorities have advised people to avoid seeking shelter under trees or in open spaces during rainfall and to stay indoors during the downpour.
Continuous rainfall in the Jashpur region has caused rivers and streams to overflow.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in the Sarguja division of northern Chhattisgarh over the next 24 hours. In Jashpur district, rainfall has been continuous for 60 hours, with 468.7 mm of rain recorded during this period. The incessant rain has caused rivers such as Ib, Dorki, Lava, Maini, and Kapri to surge. Water is flowing over several causeways and bridges, disrupting traffic.
