Woman Lost During Journey Found New Support
Sakhi One Stop Center Dantewada Facilitates Safe Reunion with Family
Success Story
Raipur, The Sakhi One Stop Center, operated by the Women and Child Development Department, is emerging as a reliable support for women in distress. A sensitive example of this was seen in Dantewada district, where a woman from Bihar was provided safe shelter and reunited with her family.
Mrs. Savita Devi, a resident of Muzaffarpur district in Bihar, boarded a train from Motipur station to go from her parental home to her in-laws' house. She fell asleep during the journey and, passing through several stations, arrived at Kirandul (Dantewada district) in Chhattisgarh. From there, she started walking and, wandering, reached Bhansi.
Local residents, upon seeing her condition, informed the Bhansi police station. The police safely provided her temporary shelter at the Sakhi One Stop Center, Dantewada.
The Sakhi One Stop Center team took immediate action, contacting the Sakhi One Stop Center and the Kati police station in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. The process of identification was initiated by sending the woman's name, address, and photograph. After verification, it was confirmed that the woman was indeed a resident of Muzaffarpur district.
Subsequently, her family was contacted and informed of the complete details. Upon receiving the information, her husband arrived in Dantewada and, after all necessary procedures were completed, the woman was safely handed over to him.
The woman's husband stated that his wife's mental condition is not entirely stable and she had been missing for about a month and a half. The family had searched for her in many places, but her whereabouts could not be determined. Seeing his wife safe in Dantewada brought him immense relief.
He expressed his gratitude to the Sakhi One Stop Center, Dantewada, and the Women and Child Development Department, saying that the timely help had reunited his family.
This incident demonstrates that the Sakhi One Stop Center is not limited to just providing shelter but also offers crucial services like safety, counseling, coordination, and family reunion for women in distress. This scheme is an effective example of the government's sensitive initiative towards the safety and dignity of women.
