Women become empowered and capable, riding e‑rickshaws to the Speaker’s House, Assembly President Dr. Raman Singh Raypur, Rajnandgaon’s Padma Shri Govindram Nirmalkar Auditorium hosted a workers’ conference where Chhattisgarh Assembly President Dr. Raman Singh participated. After the conference Dr. Raman Singh boarded the e‑rickshaw of beneficiary driver sister Mrs. Sarita Verma and set off for the Speaker’s House. During the ride district panchayat CEO Mr. Durga Prasad Adhikari and Mr. Sumit Upadhyay were also present. Steps of women advancing towards self‑reliance The Assembly President Dr. Raman Singh encouraged the women workers, saying that today women are traveling by bicycle, motorcycle, car and even becoming pilots flying airplanes. Women have taken historic steps towards becoming educated, capable, empowered and self‑reliant. The President’s warmth and encouragement reflected happiness and pride on driver sister Sarita Verma’s face. Shared experiences at the workers’ conference The conference showed social change from people‑friendly government schemes, where beneficiary women workers shared the changes and experiences in their lives. Dr. Raman Singh, encouraging continued education, spoke with another e‑rickshaw driver sister Mrs. Usha Sahu about her education and advised her to continue studying even after the 10th grade. Family support During the conversation Mrs. Usha Sahu’s husband Mr. Bhavesh Sahu said he taught his wife to drive the e‑rickshaw and always encourages her, strengthening their family financially and increasing savings.
