Amit Pandey, Khairagarh. In view of Republic Day, preparations for the program have intensified at Raja Fateh Singh Ground in Khairagarh. But amidst these preparations, the municipal administration is facing serious allegations of ignoring the rules and negligence. The opposition has targeted the municipal administration for getting work worth lakhs of rupees done without tender.
Leader of Opposition Deepak Dewangan said that the municipal administration has ignored the tender process to benefit its favorite contractors. He alleged, “Apart from Fateh Singh Maidan, work is also being done in Mangal Bhawan and Municipality Office without tender. This is a blatant violation of government rules and misuse of public money.
On the other hand, Municipality CMO Narendra Verma rejected these allegations and said that whatever work is being done at Fateh Singh Maidan, it is being done by Municipality Chairman Girija Chandrakar at his personal expense. Verma said, “This work is not being done from the budget of the municipality, but from the personal expenses of the Speaker.” However, this statement of the CMO has further instigated the controversy.
According to sources, not only Fateh Singh Maidan, but also the work of laying tiles in Mangal Bhawan and painting in the Municipality office is going on, which is costing lakhs of rupees. If the Municipal Chairperson will pay for these works from her personal expenses, then it will be the first time in the history of Khairagarh that a Chairperson will spend lakhs of rupees from his own pocket to get government work done. The opposition termed it as a scam and alleged that by getting the work done without the tender process, favored contractors are being benefited.
Before the celebration of Republic Day, the poor condition of Fateh Singh Maidan has also become a topic of discussion. The cleanliness system in the grounds has broken down.
The condition of toilets built for women is pathetic. The bathroom doors are broken, due to which the participants are facing a lot of trouble. Moreover, the ground becomes a den of drunkards at night, making the condition of the ground worse.
In these circumstances, questions are being raised on the dignity of a national event like Republic Day. The opposition has demanded a high-level investigation into this entire matter. Now it will be interesting to see how the administration responds to these allegations and whether the event of January 26 will be conducted smoothly amid these controversies and chaos.
