In a shocking incident near Coimbatore International Airport, three individuals have been apprehended for allegedly gang-raping a college student on Sunday night. The victim, a student at a private college in Coimbatore, was reportedly with a friend when the assault occurred. According to reports, the attackers approached their parked car, assaulted the male friend, and then forcibly abducted the student.
The traumatized victim was later discovered in a secluded area near the airport, in a distressed state. She was immediately transported to a local hospital for medical attention and support. Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Saravana Sundar confirmed the arrests.
The accused, identified as Guna, Karuppasamy, and Karthik (also known as Kaleeswaran), were reportedly shot in the leg by police in Vellakinaru, on the outskirts of Coimbatore, as they attempted to evade capture. A head constable also sustained injuries during the encounter. All injured parties have been admitted to a Coimbatore hospital. Investigations into the heinous crime are ongoing.
