Congress leader Pawan Khera has launched a scathing attack on Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, alleging a conflict of interest regarding the government’s ethanol policy. Khera stated that while Gadkari formulates the policy, his sons are profiting from it. The Congress party has criticized the BJP’s ethanol initiatives, pointing out that Gadkari had promised to establish five ethanol production centers in 2018, but these centers have not materialized. Khera highlighted that the ethanol being produced is derived from sugarcane and grains, which is causing damage to vehicles, and petrol prices have not decreased.
Khera further elaborated on the environmental and financial implications, stating that producing one liter of ethanol consumes 3,000 liters of water. He claimed that Gadkari’s sons are benefiting financially from the policy, with Nikhil Gadkari’s revenue surging from 18 crore to 523 crore in a year. He also pointed out that the use of ethanol is damaging vehicle engines and not benefiting farmers, who are being forced to sell their sugarcane and grains at low prices. Khera also criticized the environmental damage caused by ethanol production.
