The Congress party has entered the trending movement sparked by the ‘I Love Mohammad’ controversy. The party’s response is ‘I Love Constitution,’ with hoardings appearing outside the Congress office in Lucknow. The posters feature Congress leader Rahul Gandhi alongside other senior leaders. Congress leader Abdullah Sherkhan put up the posters outside the party office. Following the ‘I Love Mohammad’ controversy, various trends have emerged on social media. These include ‘I Love Mahadev,’ ‘I Love Mahakal,’ and ‘I Love Ram’ campaigns. Support and opposition campaigns are underway in Uttarakhand, Telangana, and Maharashtra. The controversy originated in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, on September 4th, and has spread to several states across the country. The dispute began during a Barawafat procession in Rawatpur, Kanpur. A light board displaying ‘I Love Mohammad’ was put up, which is commonly associated with Eid Milad-un-Nabi, commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad. The Muslim side in the controversy asserts that ‘I love Mohammad’ is an expression of their faith and not a crime. In Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, slogans of ‘Sar Tan Se Juda’ were raised. Similar slogans were chanted in Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, and Telangana, leading to protests. Pictures also emerged from Gujarat. The Hindu side in the controversy claims that the banners were an attempt to provoke, with local Hindu organizations objecting to the ‘new tradition’ and alleging an attempt to disrupt communal harmony.
