Congress MP Seeks Parliamentary Pause to Review Defection Bill

Manish Tiwari, a member of the Congress party, has sent a written request to the Lok Sabha’s chief clerk, seeking permission to move an adjournment motion. The motion would put a temporary halt on the day’s schedule – including Question Hour, Zero Hour and other scheduled work – to allow members to discuss a proposed anti‑defection law. According to Tiwari, the law should stop mass defections driven by political opportunism while still safeguarding the right to honest dissent. He has asked the government to defer the current business and allocate time for this pressing discussion.
