Sachin Pilot arrived in Jhunjhunu on Sunday to meet the family of Pradeep Mahich, who died by suicide following the NEET paper leak. The visit, joined by several senior Congress figures, underscored the party’s concern over the growing distress among students and their families. Speaking to the media after the meeting, Pilot highlighted how Pradeep’s father had invested everything—land, savings, and borrowed money—to secure his son’s future as a doctor. The paper leak, he argued, not only ended Pradeep’s aspirations but exposed deep-rooted corruption within the examination system. Pilot accused the state machinery of callousness, claiming that police and local officials failed to show empathy when the family needed it most. He demanded strict action against those responsible for any misconduct and stressed that the incident reflects a larger pattern of negligence. The leader pointed out that the leak involves a sophisticated criminal network worth millions. With more than two million students impacted, he called for a thorough investigation that leaves no stone unturned. He also questioned the delay in filing an FIR and suggested that political pressure may have slowed the initial response. In a gesture of support, the Congress has announced ₹11 lakh in immediate financial aid. Pilot reiterated that the party will stand by the family and continue pressing for systemic reforms to protect the aspirations of India’s youth.
