In a significant development, the Supreme Court has given its nod to the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision drive, prompting the BJP to launch a fresh offensive against the opposition. Union Minister Giriraj Singh described the order as a moment of truth that has laid bare the real intentions of leaders such as Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee and Tejashwi Yadav. He pointed out that these parties had fought recent elections in Bihar and West Bengal by raising fears that genuine voters would be struck off the rolls. Singh said the apex court has now clarified that the revision follows due process and is aimed solely at updating the electoral database. Sanjay Seth reinforced the message by noting that 140 crore citizens support the exercise. He explained that the process targets bogus entries, including those of illegal immigrants, and prevents future manipulation. JD(U) leader Neeraj Kumar went a step further by calling for legal proceedings against individuals who deliberately spread rumours about the revision. BJP MP Jagdambika Pal echoed the demand for accountability and said opposition parties should seek public forgiveness. The court’s decision is expected to strengthen the Election Commission’s ongoing efforts to maintain accurate voter lists across states.
