Damodhar Agrawal Warns Opposition of Exploiting Student Protests

BJP parliamentarian Damodhar Agrawal voiced strong criticism of opposition parties on August 7, accusing them of capitalising on student protests for electoral advantage. He stressed that India’s youth are not traitors but the nation’s future, and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi continuously engages with them through programmes such as “Pariksha Pe Charcha” and the “Mann Ki Baat.”

Agrawal pointed out that recent campus demonstrations have been framed by rival parties as a sign of governmental failure, whereas the reality, he argued, is a healthy democratic dialogue between authorities and students. He cited the example of JPSC‑JSSC candidates in Ranchi questioning Rahul Gandhi’s involvement with the students, asking why Gandhi did not join them from the first day and why he failed to support demands for exam postponement.

According to Agrawal, the government’s approach is to listen and respond to youth concerns through conversation, not confrontation. He called for a thorough parliamentary debate to distinguish genuine student grievances from politically motivated narratives.
