A massive cloudburst struck the Karligarh Sahastradhara area of Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on Monday night, leading to extensive damage. Flash floods, triggered by continuous heavy rainfall, ravaged homes, shops, and hotels. The repercussions of the cloudburst extended beyond Sahastradhara, with debris reaching near the IT Park in Dehradun and subsequently raising the water level of the Song River. The local administration announced a holiday for all schools, from Class 1 to 12, on Tuesday, September 16. The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Dehradun, forecasting exceptionally heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds. Rivers like Tamsa, Chandrabhaga, and Sahastradhara overflowed their banks. Videos depicted significant debris accumulation, up to 2 feet deep, in the Tapkeshwar Mahadev Shivalinga complex. The bridge near Fun Valley and Uttarakhand Dental College on the Dehradun–Haridwar National Highway also suffered severe damage.
