To facilitate attendees of the Independence Day ceremony at the Red Fort, including guests, invitees, and the general public, the Delhi Metro will implement special arrangements on August 15th. According to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), metro services will commence at 4:00 AM. Trains will run every 30 minutes from terminal stations on all lines between 4:00 AM and 6:00 AM. Following this, metro services will operate according to the regular schedule throughout the day.
Special QR tickets will be provided by Delhi Metro to those with original invitation letters from the Ministry of Defence, enabling them to travel to and from the ceremony venue. The Ministry of Defence will reimburse Delhi Metro for the cost of these tickets.
Delhi Traffic Police have diverted some routes around the Red Fort. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has also made special arrangements to assist passengers.
Security measures have been intensified on the Delhi Metro in anticipation of Independence Day. In a recent statement, DMRC indicated that long queues may occur at some stations during peak hours, and this situation could persist until August 15th. Passengers are advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow for ample extra time.
Preparations for Independence Day are in full swing. A full dress rehearsal was held at the Red Fort on Wednesday. Special programs are also organized at several other locations in Delhi. To ensure easy access for the public to these events, metro services will begin two hours earlier than usual.
