Eight‑Year Search Ends as Crime Branch Seizes Wanted Drug Offender

Jammu, September 22 – The Crime Branch (EOOW) of Jammu and Kashmir Police announced the capture of a long‑sought drug suspect after an eight‑year pursuit. The accused, identified as Amjad Ali Naik from Ratnipora, Shopian district, had been listed in FIR 44/2004 under the NDPS Act for alleged violations of Sections 8 and 20.

The operation culminated in Naik’s arrest and his immediate appearance before the Second Additional Sessions Judge in Jammu, where a charge sheet had already been submitted. The police emphasized that the arrest demonstrates the department’s resolve to locate and present fugitives before competent courts.

Senior Superintendent of Police Faisal Quraishi warned other wanted individuals to surrender, noting that the EOOW unit specializes in high‑profile economic and narcotics investigations, backed by dedicated full‑time investigative teams.
