A major operation targeting the trade of counterfeit drugs has been exposed in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. A joint team from the Special Task Force (STF) and the Drug Department conducted raids, seizing fake medications worth approximately 24.3 million rupees and apprehending a pharmaceutical businessman. The raids targeted Bansal Medical Agency, Hema Medical Store, and four warehouses located in the Fowwara area. Investigations revealed a large quantity of counterfeit drugs at Hema Medico and its associated warehouse.
Himanshu Agarwal, the ringleader of the operation, was arrested at the scene. He attempted to bribe officials with one million rupees but was unsuccessful. During interrogation, he disclosed that the fake drug network extended beyond Agra, with the counterfeit medications being distributed to neighboring countries such as Nepal and Bangladesh. Hawala channels were used for these illicit transactions, indicating an organized criminal enterprise.
