The central government has unveiled a FASTag-based annual toll pass, designed to enhance convenience for drivers of private cars, jeeps, and vans, streamlining toll payments. This initiative, introduced on Independence Day, offers an annual pass aimed at simplifying the travel experience. Utilizing Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, the pass automatically deducts toll fees from a prepaid account linked to the vehicle. This eliminates the need for frequent FASTag recharges. This prepaid annual facility is exclusively available for non-commercial private vehicles. The pass enables continuous travel on National Highways and National Expressways without stopping at toll plazas. It’s important to note that the annual pass is only valid at toll plazas on National Highways and Expressways; state-run or private toll roads will require standard FASTag charges. To acquire the pass, users can visit the Rajmarg Yatra app or the NHAI/MoRTH website. After logging in with their vehicle number and FASTag ID, they should ensure their FASTag is active and linked to the vehicle and complete the payment of Rs 3000. The pass will then be linked to their existing FASTag. Vehicle owners with FASTags linked to their Vehicle Registration Number (VRN) are eligible. If a FASTag is issued solely on the chassis number, updating the VRN and mobile number is required. Existing FASTag users with updated KYC can activate the pass on their existing tag without needing a new one. The pass is non-transferable and transferring it can lead to FASTag blacklisting. Vehicles with incomplete information, such as missing VRN or mobile number, must update their details first.
