Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren Passes Away at 81

Shibu Soren, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and the patriarch of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), died on Monday at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi. He was 81 years old. Soren had been hospitalized for over a month, receiving treatment for a kidney-related illness since late June. His health deteriorated in recent days, leading to ventilator support on August 2. The current Chief Minister and his son, Hemant Soren, announced the passing on X, expressing deep personal loss. Shibu Soren, who had withdrawn from active politics in recent years, was the founding patron of the JMM.
