Following the tragic crash of Air India Flight AI-171 near Ahmedabad airport, former pilot Ehsan Khalid has offered insights into the potential causes of the disaster. Khalid suggests that a loss of power may have contributed to the accident, while he deems a simultaneous failure of both engines as improbable. The flight, en route to London, crashed shortly after takeoff, resulting in the loss of 241 lives. The aircraft, carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members, took off at 1:17 PM but quickly began descending, ultimately crashing into the BJ Medical College and Hospital. Khalid emphasized the importance of analyzing data from the Flight Data Recorder, Cockpit Voice Recorder, and ACARS to determine the exact cause. Based on video evidence, he ruled out a mid-air explosion. He also questioned why the landing gear remained down post-takeoff, suggesting a possible engine issue detected early in the flight, which raises questions about the operational procedures.
