Security forces in Manipur have detained four individuals suspected of involvement in the abduction of six Naga civilians, Chief Minister Yumman Khemchand Singh confirmed on Thursday. The government has launched extensive rescue operations and is coordinating with multiple agencies to ensure the hostages are recovered unharmed. The Chief Minister made the announcement while touring relief facilities in Makhan Naga village, Kangpokpi district. He highlighted that fresh combing operations have been intensified following the May 13 ethnic clashes that triggered the kidnappings. Investigations are actively pursuing those responsible for the crime. Relief efforts are also underway at a camp set up inside Makhen Baptist Church for internally displaced families. The Chief Minister interacted with Naga women and children from Konsakhul village who had earlier been taken hostage and later released. Essential supplies were distributed, and additional provisions such as bedding and mosquito nets have been ordered for the camp currently sheltering 35 people. Security operations continue across Kangpokpi and Senapati districts. Around 20 Naga and Kuki individuals remain missing after nearly 50 people were initially abducted. Three church leaders were killed and four others injured during the violence. Coordinated efforts by central and state forces have already secured the release of 30 hostages in recent days.
