Fresh Bomb Threat Emails Alarm Jalandhar and Punjab Authorities

Jalandhar, October 30: A new round of bomb threat emails has created fresh tension in Jalandhar. The messages targeted the Army Public School and the APS Public School, prompting immediate concern among students, parents and local authorities.

Apart from the schools, the email referred to railway routes across the state. It told readers not to board trains going to Delhi on November 1 and claimed that IEDs would be set off on tracks at Amritsar, Firozpur, Ludhiana and Bathinda.

The threat specified that bombs at the schools would go off at 12:11 pm on the same day. It also mentioned a threat of a blast in Sangrur, in connection with a scheduled visit by Rahul Gandhi.

The district administration responded without delay. School buildings are being examined as part of a precautionary exercise, and officials have stressed that the safety of children remains the top priority.

This development comes a month after a bomb threat was reported in Punjab during a program of Union Home Minister Amit Shah on September 24. At that time, a threatening email warned of blasts at BJP offices in Mumbai, Delhi and Chandigarh.

The alleged email had mentioned Khalistan National Army and Babbar Khalsa. Private schools in Panchkula were also warned of bombings, with the message urging parents to protect their children and not to support the BJP's Punjab yatra.

In Noida, on October 12, roughly a dozen schools were threatened in a similar manner. Police and administration reacted swiftly, sending bomb disposal squads, dog squads, anti-sabotage checking teams and fire brigade units to conduct detailed searches of the school premises.
