An all-women police team in Ghaziabad achieved a historic first by engaging in an encounter and subsequently arresting a 22-year-old wanted criminal. The arrest followed a gunfight on Sunday night. The individual, identified as Jitendra, son of Nandkishore and a resident of Vijay Nagar, was apprehended after resisting a routine police check. When officers attempted to stop him, he attempted to evade capture, leading to the encounter. After being ordered to surrender, Jitendra allegedly fired upon the officers. The police retaliated, injuring him and taking him into custody. Senior Police Officer Upasana Pandey confirmed Jitendra’s involvement in multiple incidents of snatching, robbery, and vehicle theft. During interrogation, he admitted to stealing motorcycles and scooters throughout the Delhi-NCR region, as well as snatching mobile phones and other valuables. The police recovered a country-made pistol, ammunition, a stolen scooter, a mobile phone, and a tablet. Further investigation revealed the scooter was reported stolen from Delhi the previous year, and the mobile phone and tablet were reported stolen on Sunday.
