Gorkhas Praise Modi and Shah for Granting Rights After Jammu‑Kashmir Integration

During a celebratory gathering on August 5, Gorkha representatives lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for delivering on promises made after the removal of special status from Jammu and Kashmir. They recalled a time when they could not vote, when their children were denied domicile, and when government jobs seemed unattainable. The leaders emphasized that the 8 percent reservation, the issuance of domicile certificates and the opening of banking facilities have collectively restored dignity and equal citizenship. While some political parties continue to label August 5 as a "black day," Gorkhas stressed that the day symbolizes freedom, development and the end of institutional discrimination.
