A dramatic confrontation unfolded late Monday in Mathura when police teams surrounded two armed vehicle lifters hiding near Chetak Academy. The suspects, both from Rajasthan, responded with gunfire, triggering an exchange that left each man shot in the leg. After receiving medical care, Sakir and Sabir were formally arrested. Investigators found two country-made pistols and three number-plate-less motorcycles at the scene, strengthening suspicions of a larger interstate theft syndicate. Sakir already carries eight pending cases in Mathura and surrounding districts, while Sabir is booked in seven cases ranging from theft to Arms Act violations. The successful raid was coordinated by Chhata station chief Umesh Chand Tripathi, who credited real-time intelligence and close coordination among the reward and surveillance units. Senior officers believe these arrests will disrupt the gang’s operations and may lead to recovery of more stolen vehicles.
