Helicopter Survey and Security Drill Precede Yogi’s Flower Offering in Meerut

Lucknow/Meerut, August 8 – Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s visit to Meerut coincides with the height of the Kanwar pilgrimage, when millions of Shiva devotees transport sacred Ganga water from Haridwar toward their destinations.

The chief minister will board a helicopter at Hindon Airport, fly over the entire Kanwar trail, and assess on‑ground safety, traffic regulation and crowd management measures. Upon landing at the university helipad, he will preside over a floral shower ceremony for the pilgrims gathered near the Dullahra police outpost in Modipuram.

A massive security deployment involving police, PAC, and additional forces has been arranged. The site features a reinforced stage, barricades, a secure ring and continuous surveillance by anti‑sabotage and bomb‑detection squads.

Senior officials, including the ADG of Meerut Zone, DIG of Kanpur, DM Dr V.K. Singh and SSP Avinash Pandey, inspected the venue and the Kanwar route a day earlier. Drone footage was employed to monitor pilgrim flow from Modipuram to Rudki Road, enabling real‑time traffic and security oversight.

Along the procession corridor, authorities have set up first‑aid stations, drinking water points, resting zones and robust sanitation facilities, aiming to provide a safe and comfortable environment for every pilgrim.
